You need to face some facts; for example, there is a certain stigma about people who own pickup trucks. Well, there are several, but we are focusing on this one today; owners of pickup trucks like bands that hail from the South.

We understand that this is in all likelihood just a stereotype, we are sure there are truck owners out there who dig 19th-century European classical music or Jazz for the 1950s; heck, there may even be truck owners who listen repeatedly to Creed. After all, truck owners represent the melting pot that is the United States of America and have unique tastes in everything from music to truck wheels. The dude with the Fuel wheels likes 1970s and 1980s Southern rock bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd and Molly Hatchet while the guy with the Moto Metal wheels is constantly jamming out to Southern Metal bands like Black Label Society and Hellyeah.

In all likelihood, you have heard Skynyrd and perhaps Molly Hatchet, but you might be wondering about Black Label Society and Hellyeah. Well, that's what Google is for. We are here to introduce you to some good ole’ Southern bands from various genres. So open up your mind, you might find yourself cruising the streets in your Chevy truck cranking out something you never thought you would listen to before reading this post.

Memphis May Fire

Acid Bath

Alabama Shakes

What do these bands have in common? You got it, they are all from the South. Memphis May Fire is a metalcore band from Texas delivering sweet southern death metal. Don’t think this is an enigma, a rare occasion where that unique southern sound mixes with the harsh reality of death metal. There are plenty of southern death metal bands around, many of them thriving rather well. Take, for example, Superjoint Ritual whose bassist is none other than Hank Williams III.

Acid Bath is a sludge metal band from Louisiana who combined black metal with doom metal for a sound that can only be described as, well, we really are finding it difficult to describe. If your curiosity has been piqued, look them up and give them a listen.

Alabama Shakes is a blues rock band formed in Athens, Alabama in 2009. This band has a really good sound and have been becoming increasingly more popular the last few years. Check them out and you might become an instant fan.

Go out on a limb and give these bands a shot, you might find something you like.
