Truck Wheels and New Year's Resolutions
8th Jan 2018
It seems like a thousand years since you were at that New Year’s Eve party sipping top-shelf vodka and telling everybody your resolutions. Well, that wasn't even two weeks ago and you have already broken every one of them, some you have broken beyond repair.
It was just over a week ago when you swore you would never drink cheap beer again and completely lay off the unhealthy fast foods you love so much. Yet, there is a picture of you on Facebook posted in the wee hours of Sunday morning surrounded by a sea of empty Pabst Blue Ribbon cans of beer while hungrily devouring two Triple Whoppers from Burger King.
You also make resolutions promising yourself to exercise more, be more productive at work and fix up your truck.
Since making those resolutions, you haven’t done anything remotely close to exercise, except the occasional 12-ounce curl and you are as unproductive at work as you were last year, if not even more unproductive, if that is even possible.
Ah, but you went to BB Wheels and bought a set of truck wheels. Good for you, at least you can say you accomplished something.
And while that was worth a little praise, you need to show more for what you have put into this life of yours. A set of Fuel wheels only goes so far after all.
What you need to do is actually follow through on some of the resolutions you committed yourself to last week. All's not lost, simply start fresh and have another go at it.
We understand that you are probably a little hesitant about moving forward, especially after such an epic collapse. So we have compiled a list of tips that will give you a better chance at keeping your New Year resolutions and able to hold your head high in doing so.
The Right Resolutions
According to studies, over half of all resolutions don't make it past the end of January. Many of the people who fail at resolutions do so because they didn't pick the right resolutions.
The right resolutions are those chosen by you because you really want to make positive changes.
If your girlfriend is urging you to make resolutions and you really don't want to change, then you are destined to fail. Now, you might agree with your girlfriend that you need to resolve to dress better in the New Year, but until you really want to make that change, filthy sneakers and holey jeans will be your signature style.
People who fail at resolutions also tend to be way too vague about what they are resolving to do. In other words, getting healthy means so many things and it’s hard to nail anything specific down. Getting healthy could mean a change in diet, more exercise or a change in habits, like quitting smoking or drinking less.
Unless you narrow down the focus of your resolution, you are likely going to fail.
Be Very Clear About Your Goals
Instead of resolving to lose weight in the New Year, resolve to specifically lose 25 pounds. That’s a good start right there.
But you need to take this resolution a step further and break down just how you plan on reaching this very doable goal. For example, you may resolve to lose three pounds a month for eight or nine months until your goal is reached. That is a resolution that is very well thought out and very likely one you can achieve if you put your mind to it.
Be Realistic
We know that you would like to shed a few extra pounds, 25 to be sure. But the last thing you want to do is to resolve to lose it all in two or three months. We say this because you are only kidding yourself if you think this can be done.
Look, it isn't as though we have no faith in you, but some resolutions just take time. If you fall behind on a lofty goal like this, you are more likely to just give it up, pack it in and head to Burger King for a Triple Whopper to drown out your sorrow brought on by failure.
Your Resolution Must Be Relevant
You never want to make a resolution out of a sense of self-hate or because you are having a passionate moment. For example, don’t resolve to lose weight if you really don't need to lose weight and don't resolve to become a writer just because you read some poetry that tugged at your heartstrings.
Don’t Beat Yourself Up
Look, we all make mistakes, it really isn't a big deal. So you sucked down a few cans of really bad beer and scarfed a couple of Triple Whoppers, forget about it and move on. Taking missteps is normal and a part of making changes. Everyone has their ups and downs and you are certainly no exception.
Ask For Help
There is absolutely nothing wrong in asking for help and support to achieve your goals. We are sure you have friends or family members who are willing to go out of their way to help you along. And if not, there are professionals who can help, it is what they do for a living.
You managed to at least keep one resolution by making your truck look better with a set of truck wheels from BB Wheels. You can ride that momentum and carve out a few more resolution success stories. If you haven’t bought new wheels for your truck, visit BB Wheels today.
