You are Knowledgeable About Transmissions and Truck Wheels, But You Know Almost Nothing About Cooking
22nd Nov 2016

Check your calendar bud, Thanksgiving Day is almost here. Sure, you are excited about the big dinner you will be enjoying, the football games and the traditional Thanksgiving Day nap, but perhaps it’s time you contributed to the festivities; you are, after all, a grown man with responsibilities.
As a truck owner, you are knowledgeable about transmissions and truck wheels, but you know almost nothing about cooking. I take that back; you know absolutely nothing about cooking. Which is really quite a shame because someday, this type of knowledge could save your life. Really, it could. Look, if you were, say, trapped in the kitchen after a fracking-induced earthquake, how long before you would die from starvation? After all, that box of mac-n-cheese isn't going to cook itself.
Back to your Thanksgiving Day meal. It is fine time you carried your weight around here, at least some of it. Contribute to this year's feast by preparing a side dish everybody will enjoy. That’s fine if you don't have any idea where to start, help is on the way. Here are a few awesome recipes that are both relatively simple, yummy and appropriate for your Thanksgiving Day dinner.
Turkey Gravy
For a delightful, full-flavored turkey gravy you start off with a trip to Walmart where you purchase several cans of turkey gravy. It is suggested that you don’t choose the dented cans on the bottom shelf even though they are marked down in price.
Once you get back home, open said cans of turkey gravy and carefully pour into medium-sized sauce pan. That’s the one that looks like a frying pan but has higher walls.
Turn the stovetop on and you have yourself a hot and tasty dish with very little effort.
Mac-n-Cheese
One of the great traditional Thanksgiving Day side dishes is also quite easy to make.
Cook macaroni according to package directions
In a medium saucepan, not the one your turkey gravy is occupying, find an empty one, melt ½ cup butter, stir in ¼ cup flour and slowly add 2 cups of milk.
- Stir and cook until bubbly, like your Saturday night bath.
- Stir in 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese until melted.
- Drain macaroni, add to sauce and stir well.

Ribs
On Thanksgiving Day, ribs are considered a side dish. This is an easy recipe as all you need is your favorite rub and BBQ sauce. Simply sprinkle the ribs with your rub, douse them in BBQ sauce and throw them on the grill, just like you do every Independence Day.
Baked Beans
You could just buy canned baked beans at the store, but show a little class by preparing this delectable recipe.
- 2 cans pork and beans
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
All you have to do is throw all these ingredients in a saucepan and mix them together. If you’re really feeling it, chop up a few slices of bacon and add to your creation. Just make sure you cook the bacon first.
