Muscle Car Enthusiasts Love American Racing Wheels

Posted by Ricky Ochs on 13th Oct 2016

Some say it’s a sickness or a disease, that never-ending obsession with the muscle car. Choose your poison, whether it’s a Chevy Nova, Dodge Charger or Pontiac GTO (GASP!), we want to drive our rear-wheel-drive muscle cars all of the time.

It is quite easy to spot someone who loves muscle cars while they are on the street, driving their beloved Chevy Chevelle or Ford Mustang with a smile on their face and a glimmer in their eye, but it’s a whole different story picking out these big block fanatics when they are not in their natural setting.

This is where we can help. Here are a few dead giveaways that the guy who sits next to you at work or the girl picking out a black dress at JC Penney is a fan of muscle cars.

Love of Chrome

While most of us hold a certain admiration for chrome, those who love muscle cars actually start salivating in its presence. Try this test: Bring a chrome oil cap into the office and place it on your desk, out in the open for everybody to see. By the time you finish your first cup of coffee, if there are numerous fingerprints on the cap and drool on your desk, you know there is a muscle car freak in the vicinity. To discover the culprit, simply look for the person who is sitting quite rigid at their desk with a distant gaze in their eyes making engine revving noises under their breath.

Loves American Racing Wheels

Regardless of what type of vehicle you drive, anybody wanting a sporty looking truck, SUV or sedan will dump their stock rims for a set of aftermarket wheels. These people also talk about their new wheels, telling anybody who cares to listen how great their truck looks in the new set of Fuel wheels or how awesome their SUV looks in their Moto Metal wheels.

Those who own muscle cars also swap out stock rims with aftermarket wheels, but most of them choose American Racing wheels. You see, American Racing Wheels has been around since 1956 and is favored by muscle car enthusiasts worldwide. Go ahead, ask the drooling guy next to you at work what type of wheels he has on his ride. Go on.

Motor Love

Muscle car enthusiasts don’t give a hoot about fuel economy, they love their motors big and packed with maximum horsepower. They also have a way of sniffing out cars with big, powerful engines, just like a hound dog tracks down an escaped prisoner. And the quote you will hear every time a muscle car fanatic comes face to face with another muscle car owner, “dude, pop the hood.”

Check Under the Nails

Owners of muscle cars don't really like anybody else working on their car, so they tend to do most of the work on it themselves. And since they are sticklers about making sure their cars are running at peak levels, they are almost always under the hood adjusting this and fixing that.

So a good way to spot muscle-heads is by looking at their fingers as there will always be dirt, grease or oil stuck under their fingernails. Dead giveaway.

One important thing you need to consider is what to do when you come across a muscle car motorhead. Don’t panic, most of the time all they want to do is talk. Simply pretend to listen to them and nod approvingly when they mention words like “big block” and “torque ratio.”

If this doesn't work and they become aggressive by asking you what your favorite muscle car is, simply toss a shiny object, something that could be mistaken for chrome, and they will chase after it, giving you time to make your escape.
