In our last post, we discussed hobbies you should take up when you retire. It was a great article to be sure, but it got us thinking that many of you are a ways away from retirement. Heck, many of you are decades away from spending your days doing what you want as opposed to slaving away for the man.

It is quite depressing actually, to think of all those years you have to work for somebody else, having others telling you what to do day in and day our week after week, year after year. Try not to think about it too much. Keep thinking happy thoughts, like that time you bought that set of truck wheels form BB Wheels, they were Moto Metal wheels and it was one the other happiest days of your life.

But we digress.

We are here today to give you a list of manly hobbies you can take up right now. These are hobbies that are manly, fun and will give you something to occupy your mind so you can stop thinking about work and the fact you can’t retire until 2053.

Chess

Mastering the techniques in this game could take you several years, but it will be worth the effort should you become a chess master. Actually, the skills you use in chess can be applied in day to day situations. Chess sets are inexpensive and there are apps that can teach you how to play.

Archery

Archery is not a hobby for sissies. Buy the equipment, find a place to practice and when the time comes, use your skills, focus and precision to down an animal while hunting. That is an impressive feat that will earn you bonus points with your friends and your spouse.

Lock Picking

Lock picking is fairly straightforward and requires just simple tools. You don't have to be on the seedy side of the law to engage in lock picking, we are sure a legit opportunity will present itself at some point in your life. And when it does, you, good sir, will be prepared.

Classic Car Restoration

Restore a classic muscle car and it will be a feat that you will enjoy for a lifetime. Restoring a classic Camaro, El Camino or Roadrunner is not only a labor of sweat, it is also a labor of love. From the smallest details in the interior to rebuilding the powerful engine to fitting it with a set of American Racing wheels from BB Wheels, everything you do will require skill and patience.

Whisky Tasting

This just goes to show you that almost anything can be considered a hobby. Region, age and cask type, there is a unique whiskey for every palate.

Rock Climbing

There are two ways in which you can view rocks; you can either avoid them or climb them. If you are a man looking for a new hobby, you might want to try rock climbing. If you look at rocks as something that would be cool to climb, you would probably be a good rock climber.

Surfing

Collecting Vinyl

We know somebody who has nearly 3,000 digital downloads on an external hard drive that fits right in his front pocket, but nobody is impressed with that.

What is impressive is an album collection that includes Led Zeppelin, David Bowie and Fleetwood Mac. You are sure to get bonus points if you have T Rex and Steely Dan on vinyl.

Wheel Collecting

We don’t think this is officially a hobby yet, but we see nothing wrong with loving truck wheels so much that you are always at BB Wheels buying them.
