Ballistic Wheels, Moto Metal Wheels, Fuel Wheels and What You Need in Your Emergency Kit

4th May 2018

Canadian Arctic rescue teams suggest that drivers should pack a can of dog food in their emergency kits. This might sound insane, but it actually makes perfect sense. You see, when people get stranded in their vehicles, they tend to chow down their emergency protein bars and Spam far too soon. Since dog food is less palatable, stranded motorists will wait to eat it until they are starving.

Now, we aren’t going to recommend that you pack a can of Alpo in your emergency kit, but it really isn’t a bad idea.

It is a good idea to have a well-packed emergency kit in your truck, especially if you tend to drive the roads less traveled or go off-roading from time to time. BB Wheels, your source for Fuel Wheels, Moto Metal Wheels and Ballistic Wheels, offers this list of what you need to pack in your emergency kit.

First Aid Kit

When venturing away from civilization, or just heading to grandmother’s house for a Thanksgiving Day feast, it’s a smart move to have a first aid kit packed away in your truck. The easiest thing to do is get a basic kit from the store, but you can make your own as well.

If you put together your own, make sure you include the basics like gauze, tape, bandages, antibacterial cream and aspirin.

Tools

Even if you aren't handy under the hood of your truck, it is still a good idea to pack some tools in your emergency kit. You don't need to pack an entire toolbox, just the basics will do just fine.

Duct Tape

It is widely believed that duct tape can fix just about everything. We aren’t going to argue that point. In any case, duct tape is very versatile and can be used in many ways and in many situations.

Flashlight

A flashlight is something you should have in your vehicle at all times. It doesn’t matter the type or size, just makes sure you have one or two handy. You will also want to pack spare batteries.

Fire Extinguisher

Fire extinguishers are often forgotten elements of emergency kits. But they are very important and you should have one in your truck.

Your best bet is to get a Class B extinguisher as it is meant to be used for flammable liquids including gasoline and oil.

Blanket

A blanket can be used to keep you warm should you break down when it’s cold outside. It can also be used to treat a shock victim.

Jumper Cables

You need a set of jumper cables and you need to avoid buying the cheap ones. You want to make sure the jumper cables you buy are durable and at least 12 feet in length.

Never assume that you don’t have to have jumper cables because everybody else carries them. Not everybody carries them and you should.

Once you have prepared your emergency kit, you can buy something fun, like a new set of truck wheels from BB Wheels. Come see what we have to offer.
