Your Full-Size SUV Needs a Set of Fuel or Hostile Wheels

8th Mar 2017

Even though the price of gas is a lot less per gallon than it was a few years ago, if you drive a full-size SUV you might feel just a twitch of guilt when some tool drives up next to you, rolls down the window, manually, of course, of his Prius and mouths “nature destroyer” at you.

Just kidding, you feel no guilt whatsoever. And you dwell on the fact that you can buy a full-size SUV and still eat lobster and filet mignon three times a week.

Buying a full-size SUV a few years ago was an iffy move at best. We were stuck in a nasty recession and fuel prices surged. But that has passed and sales of full-size SUVs have surged. If you have been considering buying a full-size SUV but for whatever reason remain on the fence, here are a few reasons you should just go ahead and pull the trigger.

Innovations

SUV manufacturers are fiercely competing for your business and one way in which they can get you to buy their SUV is by adding all the bells, whistles and other luxuries. Modern full-size SUVs are very luxurious indeed and can be compared to Audi’s or BMWs in terms of what they offer.

Besides heated leather seats and backup camera, innovative features are not only fun to have, but a lot of them are practical as well.

In addition to these sexy upgrades, newer models of full-size SUVs use lighter materials for engine parts which improve mileage and increases efficiency and safety. It is not out of the question that a full-size SUV gets 20 MPG in the near future.

Safety

Let’s face it, if you are driving your family to an outing and get in an accident, you want to be the one in a bigger and heavier vehicle. Weight is a great safety feature, but there is more.

Recent developments include side and knee airbags, stability control and tire pressure monitoring make full-size SUVs safer than ever. When choosing the type of vehicle you want for your family, safety should be a huge consideration.

Space

Who doesn't want a vehicle that can hold up to nine passengers comfortably? How about a vehicle that can hold four passengers, three Irish Wolfhounds and three suitcases? How about a vehicle that can hold the starting lineup for the Cleveland Cavaliers? How about a car that can hold Michael Jordan and all of his championship trophies with enough room leftover for a wedding cake.

Are you getting the idea?

Time Well Spent

Americans love their vehicles and it shows. We want them to look great, so we swap out stock wheels for Fuel wheels or Hostile wheels or some other custom wheels. We are seen every Saturday afternoon in the driveway with a bucket of soapy water and hose in hand making our full-size SUV look good.

One thing we will always continue to enjoy is taking the family on long trips through beautiful country stretches while talking and eating homemade trail mix with those little peanut butter cups you get at Sprouts.

You see, when you get out on the road, your family is left with few distractions. That is, your kids are willing to hear what you have to say because their smartphones don’t get any bars out in the middle of a nowhere.

You tell them the story about how you thoroughly enjoyed the road trips your parents would take in their station wagon. You hope that your kids continue the tradition.

Quite frankly, if you are going to spend a lot of time in a vehicle, it may as well be a full-size SUV.
