Nitto Terra Tires, Hot Summer Days and Guitar Hero

21st Jun 2017

Summer is a great season and there are so many things you want to take advantage of the wonderful weather. Basically, you want to do anything and everything outside that you couldn’t when it was cold and snowy.

Unfortunately, summer has a downside, it happens when the temperatures soar to triple digits. You might be stuck in a state where daytime highs are 110, 115 or even more, but even if you are in a place where the highs are in the 90s, that is still pretty miserable.

These are the days when you try to find a reason not to go outside. There might be plenty for you to do, like wash your Nitto Terra tires or weed the garden, but no way are you going to roast in that heat.

Well, just what are you going to do? You could spend the heat of the day inside binge-watching television shows or playing Guitar Hero, but that doesn’t put you in a very good light and does not set a good example for the kids. If you want to spend time indoors and be somewhat productive, here are a few ways you can try.

Hit the Gym

It is t-shirt and shorts season, so you might want to hit the gym and work on those thighs and abs. On days that it is too hot outside, hit the gym where they keep the air conditioning cranked so you can work up a sweat anyway.

If you would rather avoid heavy lifting or other strenuous activity altogether, try taking a yoga class.

Go to the Library

Air conditioning and romance novels, what could be better on a sweltering summer day? Not you, for your wife, she wants to tag along on your trip to the library.

There are any number of books you can peruse while at the library that are not novels you studied at school. There is a section of books that will shed some light on such subjects as engine repair, guitar chords and how to grill the perfect burger.

And if books really aren't your thing, libraries are full of DVDs and magazines as well.

Try a New Hobby

Take advantage of the free time you have in the summer to pick up a new hobby, like playing the guitar or learning a new language. If that is setting the bar too high, there are other options, like collecting stamps, collecting 1980s hair band albums or sorting through your collection of Hot Wheels.

Learn to Cook

You are pretty skilled when it comes to cooking on the grill, now see what you can do in the kitchen. Being stuck inside when the temperatures are soaring is the perfect opportunity to hone your culinary skills.

If you are already skilled in the kitchen, take this opportunity to learn a few new dishes to impress the family.

Go to a Movie

When you were a kid, back before the days of DVDs, Netflix and On Demand movies, you probably spent hot days watching movies at the local theater.

While there is nothing wrong with flopping on the couch and throwing in a DVD, the family is sure to appreciate a trip to the movie theater. Don't forget the popcorn.
