Mountain Biking, Truck Wheels and Your Friend Who Owns the Hyundai Elantra

13th Jun 2017

There are any number of benefits to owning a truck, and we spend a lot of time explaining them to you. The biggest draw to owning a truck, or at least one of the biggest, has to be the cargo bed, that magical place where you can haul almost anything your little heart desires. A close second on that list is the fact you can drive a truck in many places a car just won't go, like up a mountain for example.

To be sure, there are many things to love about a truck besides the bed and the fact it can go places other vehicles can’t, like the array of really cool truck wheels you can buy. But we digress, we are here to talk about the truck bed, not the Monster wheels on it.

You see, when you own a truck, you have a rare opportunity to do things others can’t. For example, you can load up all the junk in your garage and take it to the landfill without having to call a buddy. Your friend with the Hyundai Elantra relies on you to help when he has to go to the dump.

If you want to drive to the best fishing spot in the county, you toss the fishing gear in your truck and head out. Your friend with the Hyundai Elantra begs you to take him along as his car cannot get to the secret fishing spot.

Your friend can be a huge pain in the butt sometimes.

Recently, you had a conversation with some like-minded people you met at a barbecue about mountain biking. The conversation left you intrigued. Your interest in mountain biking was piqued when they said it was all too easy to toss the bikes in the back of the truck and drive to pristine trails up in the mountains.

Now you are seriously considering buying a mountain bike and giving it a shot. But if there is a shadow of doubt as to whether or not you want to make this commitment, here are a few reasons that will sway you.

It Beats the Treadmill

Your wife has been on a gym kick lately and has you going with her to get into shape. But you have figured out a few things’ you hate the gym and you hate the treadmill. Seriously, when was the last time you heard someone boasting about the great time they had on the treadmill?

Well, mountain biking a workout that is just as healthy as running on a treadmill but is way more fun and way cooler.

One of the reasons why exercises don’t stick is because people get bored with them. We can see why; what could be more dreadfully boring than walking on a treadmill or riding a stationary bike looking at the types of people who hang out at the gym.

Do yourself a favor and get out of the gym and onto a mountain bike where you get fresh air, great scenery and a workout that will give your body all sorts of goodness.

It’s Therapeutic

You know what it's like coming home after a stressful day at work, you do your best to avoid kicking the dog and maintain a fake smile on your face.

Those who have a mountain bike have a positive and effective way of blowing off steam, without causing undo harm to Fido. And riding your mountain bike on a trail is a heckuva lot cheaper than paying a therapist to help you through your anger issues.

You Need Some Adventure

The biggest adventure you have seen in your life as of late was when you encountered that raccoon while taking the garbage out. Really, you need to look forward to more than a trip from your house to the trash bin every Thursday night.

Mountain biking is a pretty adventurous sport, it evokes a sense of spirit and it requires a little risk-taking. Go mountain biking over the weekend and come Monday morning, you will be the center of attention at the water cooler telling glorified stories of rickety bridges, dodging sharp branches and the mud you had to scrape from your helmet after taking a tumble.

There might even be a little blood involved.

Discover New Territory

You have lived in the same town or city for a long time and thought you knew all of the cool places to go. But with a mountain bike, you will discover there is so much you have missed. You might even come across the greatest fishing spot ever.

Meet New People

The cyclists you met at the barbecue were a pretty cool group of people, the type you can get along with. The best way to meet new like-minded peeps is to do the things they do. So going mountain biking suddenly becomes a social activity. There is nothing wrong with that, just another way to hang out with awesome people.

You Will Never Get Bored

With so many trails, you will never get bored. Trails are all over the place, you would be surprised by the miles of trails near your place of residence.

Gets You Close to Nature

Mountain biking gives you the opportunity to distance yourself from the noises of the city and traffic and find tranquility in nature. A good bike ride will leave you happier.

Now, go out there are have some fun!
